The first marching club, Kapiti Grans Leisure Marchers (it was known as then) was formed
in the Kapiti district 20 years ago then split into two teams shortly afterwards and
become known as the Groovy Grans and the Waikanae Joysteppers. ........

20 Years since Leisure Marching Started
N.Z. Originals, now in recess (formerly Marching Grans), hosted a luncheon in April, to
celebrate 20 years since Leisure Marching was founded by Audrey Rodgers in Tauranga.
Former members of the team gathered, along with 2 invited members from the other Tauranga
Teams. An official cake was cut by Audrey and several photo albums and boards brought back
many memories of the 20 years.

Tauranga Leisure Marchers Celebrate 20 years Marching
More than 50 of Tauranga’s past and present marchers gathered at Fergusson Park to
celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tauranga Leisure Marchers on Thursday 7 April 2011.
